With the spiraling cost of electricity you want a healthy alternative to heating water. You need an option that not only saves you money but also runs for a long, long time without you having to worry about it. Please welcome the Venus solar water heater. INTRODUCTION TO VENUS (VTC) ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY We at Venus believe in bringing the benefits of the latest technology to our consumers. Now, in Solar Water Heaters too Venus introduces "Vacuum tube collectors" for the time in India. Internationally renowned & accepted, this technology is superior to other prevalent systems in performance, reliability & ease of installation. Breakthrough technology that taps the unlimited power of the sun to give you enormous energy savings year after year. WORKING OF VENUS VTC SOLAR WATER HEATER The Venus Vaccum Tube Collector solar water heater is made up of rows of parallel, transparent glass tubes. Each tube consists of a glass outer tube and an inner tube, or absorber, covered with a selective coating that absorbs solar energy well but inhibits radioactive heat loss. The air is withdrawn ("evacuated") from the space between the tubes to form a vacuum, which eliminates conductive and convective heat loss. The Vacuum tube collector abosrobs the heat from the solar radiation & heats up the water stored in the system through the Thermosiphonic effect. What is Thermosiphonic Effect A thermosiphon system relies on warm water rising, a phenomenon known as natural convection, to circulate water through the collectors and to the tank. In this type of installation, the tank must be above the collector. As water in the collector heats, it becomes lighter and rises naturally into the tank above. Meanwhile, cooler water in the tank flows down pipes to the bottom of the collector, causing circulation throughout the system. This is called Thermosiphonic Effect. This process continues steadily for a numer of hours till the water stored in the tank is heated up. Very high Temperatures upto 80-85 deg C can be had from such a system. The water heated in this manner is stored overnight in the insulated storage tank and is available for use the next day. FEATURES OF VENUS VACCUM TUBE COLLECTOR (VTC) MODEL Heating from infrared rays of solar radiation Greater absorption area per day Greater absorption time per day Minimum heat loss from the system due to the vacuum tubes & PUF insulated storage tank Better performance in winter & on cloudy days. Up to 10oC higher temperature Maintance free, easy to clean Compact size - low height & lesser space required for installation. Inner tank and outer tank body are made from SS304 superior grade stainless steel to withstand corrosions and to last a life time Installation Requirements Unobstructed sunlight on a flat or slopping roof Shadow-free area Close to the bathrooms to avoid long piping & heat losses A water tank at a minimum of 2.5m (7 ft) above roof level The solar collector tubes facing south. top   Download Brouchure © 2004. Heat absorptions from the infrared rays of solar radiation instead of the visible light rays, so during winter and cloudy days, the system absorbs infrared rays as usual. Heat absorption occurs from the visible light rays, On cloudy days performance will be affected significantly. 2. Heat absorbing surface is always perpendicular to sunlight because of spherical collectors Heat absorption surface will be perpendicular to sunlight only for a short time. 3. Heating continues till late evening It falls down after 2 p.m 4. It gives 10 o C higher temperature of hot water in winter & Cloudy days. It is not possible in FPC as heating efficiency falls significantly on cloudy and winter days. 5. The vacuum inside the collector tubes vastly reduces overnight heat loss Heat loss will be more at night from collector panels. 6. Salt or scale formation when using hard water will be reduced Scale formation will be more and may choke the narrow pipes within the collector. 7. Scale deposits slide off the smooth glass walls to accumulate at the bottom from where they can be easily removed. Once the scale deposits are formed it stops the flow of water; the removal of scale is also some what difficult. 8. Installation of the system is very easy Installation of the system is not easy as VTC 9. Area required for installation will be very less It require more area compared to VTC 10. Incase of damage to the collector tubes, individual tube can be replaced. But here entire flat plate has to be replaced and it involves high cost for replacement. top   © 2004. All Rights Reserved. When compared to an electric heater the Venus solar heater may sound slightly expensive. But a solar heater will pay back its investment in 2-3 years, through recurring energy savings. Besides with the government push towards tapping solar power you can avail easy loans from nationalized banks at nominal interest rates. You may also be eligible for rebates on your electricity bills in some states. 2.What could happen if water supply is irregular? Incase cold water supply is interrupted during the day , the heating of water by the solar system may not be affected significantly, although hot water cannot be drawn for use till the water supply is restored. 3.Will I get power and hot water from this system? No, Solar hot water panels only heat water. They do not generate electricity from sunlight. As the sun hits the glass tubes in the panel, water gets heated and flows back into the tank. Solar electric panels are made of silicon and convert sunlight directly into electricity. They are different from solar hot water panels. 4.What will happen on cloudy days? The VTC model solar water heater will continue to function even on cloudy days due to heat absorption from the infrared rays of sunlight. Efficiency would be affected, however, on rainy days. 5.Can I get hot water during early morning when sun is not there? Hot water produced by the solar system during the day is stored in an insulated storage tank. The insulation of the tank is such that the water remains hot without significant drop in temperature for around 24 hrs. Thus water heated during the previous day is available for use the next morning. 6.What are the Maintenance requirements? Venus VTC solar water heating systems do not need significance maintenance. The collector tubes may need annual cleaning to remove accumulated scale and sediment deposits at the bottom. The system is resistant to adverse effects of weather as it is made of stainless steel. 7.Can I use Hot water from the solar water heater in the evening or night? Using the Hot water in the evening or night will result in hot water being unavailable the next morning as the system will not heat water overnight. If you wish to use hot water in the evening too, then choose a larger capacity of solar water heater that meets your needs. 8.What is the expected life of a solar water heater? Venus VTC solar water heaters can last for 15-20 years depending upon the general upkeep. top   © 2004. All Rights Reserved. Venus Home Appliances (P) Ltd. ");

What capacity water heater do I require? Choose your capacity from the following table (the table of product capacity has to listed here) Location Climate Moderate Extreme Bathroom Instant - 15L 25L - 50L Kitchen Instant - 10L 15L - 35L Bathtub 50L - 70L 70L - 100L Shower Panel / Jacuzzi + pump 100L - 150L 100L - 150L 2. Will my water heater consume lot of power? No, the power consumption of the water heater is much less than feared. For example 25 liter water heater of electricity for heating water from 25 ° c to 60°c. The actual power consumption 2KWH may vary slightly based on the usage of hot water, cold water temperature and thermostat setting. 3. The water in my house is very hard; will this affect the water heater performance? Hard water results in formation of scale deposits when heated. These deposits will form on hard surface primarily the heating element accumulating overtime. The result will be reduction of heat transfer through the layers of scale; water will take more time to heat and the element can also fail earlier than it rated life. 4. What to do in hard water areas? Set the temperature to a lower setting below 50°c, scale forms when water is heated above 50°c. Reducing the temperature will reduce the scale formation and avoid problems of energy wastage and element failure. 5. Which is better instant or storage? Both have their own advantages Take the table from the big folder 6. What are the safety features in Venus water heaters? Thermostat - It regulates the water temperature cutting of power when set temperature is reached Thermal cut out - if thermo state fails to operate, the thermal cut out cuts of power at 90°c preventing water from boiling. Pressure cum vacuum release-prevents build valve of excessive pressure or vacuum inside the tank by releasing water if pressure increase and sucking in air if vacuum develops. Semi return device - prevents dry heating of the element by cutting of back flow from the tank .there by ensuring that element is always immersed in water. 7. What are the advantages of double ceramic heating element system in Venus? The double heating element is different from normal immersion type elements. It is a cartridge type element that is not in contact with water. Also the heat transfer is over a much larger surface area. The result- longer elements, life, lower salt deposits, hence ideal for hard water areas, easier to replace without draining the water. Also if one element fails the other continuous to work. 8. Can I use the water heater connected to automatic pump? Yes but ensure that the rated pressure of the heater is more than the pressure setting of the pump. If connecting to a pump with pressure setting > 3.5 bars (50 psi), opt for the heavy gauge models, which come with an extra thick copper tank designed to withstand the higher pressure. top   © 2004.
